How did you get started with bodybuilding lifestyle?
In five months with a lot of plyometrics and good diet I’d already lost the 50lbs I gained in my first pregnancy. It was during my second pregnancy that I decided I needed to top that! So while searching the Internet for weight loss inspiration, I came across a beautiful body. It was a headless picture of what I’d call perfection! Ripped, shapely and athletic. I started researching to find out who was the face behind this banging body! In the search I ran across something new to me… Bikini competitors. A new addition to bodybuilding? Wow I was immediately intrigued. Soon after I found my inspiration I gave birth and was left a whopping 205lbs. The idea of being on stage with the best of the best, being in the best shape of my life and possibly winning was all I needed to commit. I was yearning to be great..
Where does your motivation come from?
My motivation comes setting an example for my kids. Lifting is a passion of mine. It’s so empowering especially because I know what it’s like to feel absolutely powerless.
What workout routine has worked best for you?
I like to hit each muscle group twice a week and I switch it up in different combinations each week. I like to confuse the body to ensure progress & growth. I prefer to lift heavy but there are days that I concentrate on high reps and form. One day of the week I do mostly calisthenics and plyometrics for good conditioning and well rounded athletic abilities.
Monday: heavy shoulders, biceps, triceps, abs
Tuesday: heavy legs
Wednesday: heavy chest, back and abs
Thursday: total body plyo
Friday: heavy legs and arms
Saturday: shoulders, chest and abs
Sunday: lift heavy back
If you had to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be and why? Squats because it’s great for overall body strength, curvy lower body and I simply love the movement. Pull ups because its amazing for upper body strength, I love to conquer moves most girls are afraid to try. And Bicep Curls because it’s one of the moves you get a front row seat to see that muscle work!
What is your diet like?
As I am prepping I follow a macro diet consisting of very lean foods, I eat a lot of fish and some chicken. I eat a ton of egg whites and no processed foods or processed sugars. I eat about 60% raw diet while shredding. Regardless of my season I eat mostly organic. In my off season I definitely indulge and eat plenty large meals. I don’t really have a sweet tooth I’m mostly just greedy lol. I don’t eat fast food!
When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?
I swear by hiit while losing fat. It’s also more of a challenge and more interesting. Cardio is not on my fun list lol
What is your supplementation like?
I take Krill Oil all year round and a multivitamin when I remember to take it! Besides protein, during season I turn to Creatine, L Carnitine , BCAA, CLA, vitamin C and B complex.
